"The forest that God created inspires me to create a painting that I hope reveals how I feel about it. That's what creativity is to me."

Pukaskwa
River Shoreline, Base of Cliffs
6 inches by 5 inches
Oil on paper
Unframed original
Painted circa 1980
by Bill Mason
This
painting was surely inspired by the sketches and photographs Bill made while
filming a scene for Waterwalker on the Pukaskwa River in Pukaskwa National
Park, Ontario. This painting also offers a commentary on Bill's creative
process. Sometimes he would cut two "L" shapes out of a piece of
paper, lay them over the finished painting and move them around until he had
the picture cropped to his liking. Evidence of this is that the painting is
signed twice. He probably signed it near the edge of the paper upon
completion of the painting. Later he decided to crop in on the picture
necessitating a second signature inside the new frame.
