This was painted sometime in the early 1980's.  This was a sketch for In the Wake of a Superior Storm painting

"I have many fond memories of being windbound on Lake Superior and watching the storm clouds move out. The sun begins to break through, highlighting the distant headlands and towering waves. After a big blow it can take one or two days for Superior to settle down. It's an exciting moment when the sun breaks through an opening in the clouds for the first time, illuminating the angry sea in warm light. I never tire of watching such a scene. I'm anxious to be off again, but I have never found being stormbound on Superior a hardship. The storm is over and gone all too soon" Bill Mason, Canoescapes, 1995.

The painting is not framed and not signed
