    The Event:
Roy MacGregor's Canoe Country

In Canoe Country: The Making of Canada, Roy MacGregor tells stories of Canada's on going love affair with canoes.
He takes us from the earliest white explorers on the Columbia River all the way up to the modern cultural place the canoe holds for this country.
In between there are many rarely heard tales like the crazy story of a doomed expedition of voyageurs sent up the Nile
and the surprising canoeing friendship between Pierre Trudeau and Bill Mason.
This book is a celebration of the most beautiful craft ever created and our first and still favourite means of getting around.

Read: Globe and Mail review.
Listen: The Next Chapter with Shelagh Rogers: Roy MacGregor interview .
Watch: Roy MacGregor interview with James Raffan at the Canadian Canoe Museum.

Wally Schaber's Last of the Wild Rivers

In Last of the Wild Rivers: The Past, Present and Future of the Riviere du Moine Watershed , Wally Schaber reveals his life long love affair with the Dumoine River and shares her secrets and stories.
And there is no better qualified a guide than Wally. Starting in the beginning with the First Nations, he deftly navigates us through the natural and human history of the area
from the fur trade and lumber industry up to modern hydro development and recreational tourism.
Filled with characters and stories from eras past this book is not just a beautiful portrait of a river and a time long past, but a clarion call to protect the watershed now and for the future.
